Italy to Rwanda visa requirements

Italian passport holders need a visa for Rwanda. The simplest route is the eVisa applied online via the official Irembo portal before travel; a visa on arrival is also available. The standard single-entry tourist (V1) visa costs USD 50 and allows a 30-day stay. Italy is not on Rwanda's visa-exempt or fee-waived list (those benefits apply mainly to East African Community, African Union, Commonwealth and La Francophonie members), so Italian citizens must obtain a paid entry visa. Since January 2018, Rwanda grants entry to citizens of all countries, who can apply online in advance through the official Irembo e-government platform (the recommended method) or obtain a visa on arrival at Kigali International Airport and all land borders without prior application. The standard V1 holiday/visitor visa is USD 50 for single entry (30-day stay) or USD 70 for multiple entry (90 days). Passports must be valid for at least six months, and proof of onward travel is required. Rwanda is in East Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Note that travelers planning to also visit Kenya and/or Uganda may prefer the East Africa Tourist Visa (USD 100, 90 days, multiple entry across the three countries).
