Italy to Palestinian Territory visa requirements

Palestine has no visa system of its own — entry to the West Bank is controlled by Israel. As an Italian (EU) passport holder you are visa-exempt, but since 1 January 2025 you must obtain an approved Israel ETA-IL online before you board. It costs 25 NIS (about USD 7), is valid for 2 years and allows stays of up to 90 days. There is no independent Palestinian visa for the West Bank or Gaza; the Wikipedia visa policy and the UK Foreign Office both confirm that "the Israeli authorities control entry to Palestine." Practically, an Italian tourist enters the West Bank by clearing Israeli immigration (at Ben Gurion Airport or a land crossing such as Allenby/King Hussein Bridge from Jordan) and then travelling on to Palestinian Authority-controlled cities such as Bethlehem, Ramallah or Jericho. Italian citizens enjoy visa-free entry to Israel for up to 90 days, but the rules changed in 2025: as of 1 January 2025 every traveller from a visa-exempt country — including all EU nationals — must hold an approved ETA-IL (Electronic Travel Authorization) before boarding. The ETA-IL is applied for online through the Israeli Population and Immigration Authority, costs 25 NIS (roughly USD 7), is normally valid for two years (or until the passport expires) for multiple visits, and permits stays of up to 90 days per entry. Because no separate Palestinian permit exists for ordinary tourism in PA areas and entry hinges entirely on the Israeli ETA, an ETA is the best single classification for this route. Gaza is effectively closed to tourism and is not covered here. Travellers entering via Allenby Bridge or signing movement-restriction forms may be limited to PA-controlled areas, and violating such restrictions can lead to deportation and a multi-year entry ban.
