Italy to Norway visa requirements

No visa. As an Italian (EU) citizen you can enter Norway visa-free for tourism using a valid passport or national ID card, with no time limit and no ETIAS required. Italy is a member state of the European Union, and Norway — although not an EU member — belongs to the EEA and the Schengen Area. Under EU/EEA freedom of movement, Italian passport (or national ID card) holders may travel to, enter, and stay in Norway without any visa for tourism, business, study or residence. The Schengen 90/180-day short-stay limit and the upcoming ETIAS travel authorisation apply only to visa-exempt third-country nationals; EU/EEA citizens such as Italians are fully exempt from both. Norway does not require Italian citizens to register or obtain any authorisation for short tourist visits. The new Entry/Exit System (EES) biometric registration that rolls out in 2025-2026 also does not apply to EU/EEA citizens. The only practical requirement is to carry a valid travel document (passport or, for EU citizens, a national identity card) for the duration of the stay.
