Italy to Albania visa requirements

Italian passport holders can travel to Albania visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. No visa or e-visa is required, and ETIAS does not apply because Albania is not part of the Schengen Area or the EU. As an Italian (EU) ordinary passport holder, you do not need a visa to visit Albania for tourism or business. The official Albanian Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs confirms visa-free entry for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, counted from the date of first entry. EU citizens may enter Albania using either a valid passport or a national ID card (Danish nationals being the only EU exception requiring a passport). Your travel document must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned date of departure from Albania and must have been issued within the last 10 years. Albania is neither an EU member nor part of the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and the ETIAS travel authorization do NOT apply to entering Albania - that 90/180 limit is a separate Albanian national rule. At the border you may be asked to show proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds (commonly cited at around EUR 50 per day). For stays longer than 90 days you would need a Type D long-stay visa and subsequently a residence permit. No rule changes affecting EU citizens were announced for 2024-2026; recent changes only added temporary visa-free arrangements for Saudi and Qatari tourists.
