Do India passport holders need a visa to visit IE?

Indian passport holders need a visa before traveling to Ireland for tourism. Apply for a Short Stay 'C' visit visa online through AVATS, then submit documents and biometrics via VFS Global. India is on Ireland's visa-required list, so an ordinary Indian passport holder must obtain a Short Stay 'C' visit/tourist visa before travelling. Ireland is in the EU but NOT in the Schengen Area, so a Schengen visa does not cover Ireland and the new EU ETIAS travel authorisation does not apply here. The application is made online through the AVATS system; you then send your passport and supporting documents to a VFS Global visa application centre. A single-journey visa costs EUR 60 and permits one entry for up to 90 days; a multi-journey visa costs EUR 100 and is valid for multiple entries for up to 5 years. Processing typically takes around 4-8 weeks (longer in the April-September peak), so apply well in advance. Holders of certain UK visit visas may travel onward to Ireland under the British-Irish Visa Scheme (BIVS) or the Short Stay Visa Waiver Programme without a separate Irish visa.
