Do India passport holders need a visa to visit DK?

Indian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Denmark for tourism. Apply in advance through VFS Global; visa-free entry and ETIAS are not available to Indian nationals. Denmark is part of the Schengen Area, and India is not on the EU visa-exempt list. An Indian citizen with an ordinary passport must obtain a Schengen Type C short-stay visa before traveling for tourism. The visa permits a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Applications are lodged through VFS Global centers in India (Denmark does not accept walk-in embassy submissions for short stays), with the standard adult visa fee of EUR 90 plus a VFS service charge. Processing normally takes about 15 calendar days but can extend to 45 days during peak season, so applying 4-6 weeks ahead is strongly advised. Travel medical insurance with at least EUR 30,000 coverage is mandatory. ETIAS does NOT replace this requirement: ETIAS applies only to visa-exempt nationalities, so when it launches in late 2026 Indian nationals will still need a full Schengen visa.
