🇮🇳INDIA🇩🇪GERMANY (SCHENGEN)IN-DE Do India passport holders need a visa to visit Germany (Schengen)?
Schengen short-stay visa required, EUR 90. ETIAS expected late 2026 will not exempt Indians. Indian passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to enter Germany. Germany is part of the Schengen Area, so the same visa allows travel across 29 countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, plus the recent additions of Bulgaria, Romania, and Croatia). The visa allows up to 90 days of stay within any 180-day rolling period. The standard fee is EUR 90 (about INR 8,000). Indians apply via VFS Global centers in 15+ Indian cities. Germany has separate paths for work (Blue Card, Skilled Worker), study (national D-visa), and family reunification. The new Entry/Exit System (EES) launched 12 October 2025 records biometrics at the border; ETIAS (the visa-waiver authorization for already-exempt nationals) is expected late 2026 but does NOT apply to Indians.
