Do India passport holders need a visa to visit Brazil?

Indian ordinary passport holders need a visa before traveling to Brazil for tourism. India is NOT in Brazil's eVisa program (which covers only US, Canada, Australia, Mexico, France and ~25 other nationalities). Apply for a VIVIS visitor visa through Brazil's e-consular system via the Embassy in New Delhi or Consulate in Mumbai. Brazil requires Indian citizens to obtain a consular visitor (VIVIS / VITUR) visa before arrival; there is no visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa option for Indian passport holders. Brazil's electronic visa (eVisa), made permanent on 1 January 2026, applies only to a fixed list of nationalities (the United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico, France, Argentina and roughly 25 others) — India is not among them. Indians must apply online through Brazil's e-consular (Sistema Consular Integrado) platform and submit documents to the Brazilian Embassy in New Delhi or the Consulate-General in Mumbai. A February 2026 bilateral agreement extended the validity of Indian visitor and business visas from 5 to 10 years (multiple-entry), but it did NOT introduce visa-free travel: a prior visa remains mandatory. Each tourist entry permits up to 90 days, capped at 180 days within any 12-month period. Passports must be valid at least six months with two blank pages, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate is commonly required. Plan to apply roughly 4-6 weeks before departure.
