Israel to Mozambique visa requirements

Israeli ordinary passport holders need a Mozambique Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), applied for online before travel. Israel is one of the 29 countries that are visa-exempt but ETA-mandatory. The ETA permits a stay of up to 30 days (extendable by 30 days in-country) and must be obtained at least 48 hours before departure via the official portal at evisa.gov.mz. As of mid-2026, Israel is not on Mozambique's plain visa-free list. Instead, Israeli ordinary passport holders fall under the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) regime: they do not need a full visa, but they must obtain pre-travel online authorisation before boarding. Mozambique introduced the ETA for visa-exempt nationals in 2025 and migrated the whole process to a new VFS Global-operated digital portal (evisa.gov.mz) launched on 11 February 2026. Israel is explicitly among the 29 ETA-required countries (alongside the UK, US, Canada, most of the EU, Japan, South Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia and others). The ETA is for tourism or business, grants a stay of up to 30 days (extendable for a further 30 days while in-country), and the authorisation is valid for 60 days from the date of approval. Applications should be filed at least 48 hours before departure; airlines now verify ETA/eVisa compliance and can deny boarding to travellers without it. Visa-on-arrival still exists at some entry points but is unreliable in 2026 and should not be counted on. Travellers needing longer stays or other purposes should apply for the eVisa (30/60/90 days, single or multiple entry) instead. Mozambique is in southern Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.

Common refusal reasons

by frequency
/01
Pre-travel authorisation is mandatory
Israel is among the 29 visa-exempt countries that must obtain an ETA online before boarding; arriving without it can lead to denied boarding.
High
/02
Confusing visa-on-arrival expectations
Visa-on-arrival still technically exists at some points but is unreliable in 2026, so travellers who skip the ETA risk delays or refusal.
High
/03
Passport validity or blank pages insufficient
The passport must have 6 months validity and at least 3 blank pages; shortfalls cause rejection at check-in or border.
Medium
/04
Missing supporting documents
Failure to provide return tickets, accommodation proof or sufficient funds can lead to ETA refusal or entry denial.
Medium
/05
Applying too late
Submitting the ETA less than 48 hours before departure risks not receiving approval in time.
