Israel to Greenland visa requirements

Israeli ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for a short tourist visit to Greenland. As a Schengen visa-exempt nationality, Israelis may enter Greenland for up to 90 days without a visa. Note that Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark but is OUTSIDE the Schengen Area and EU, so a Schengen visa is not valid for Greenland and ETIAS does not cover Greenland itself. Greenland is an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark but is not part of the European Union or the Schengen Area. Its visa policy mirrors Schengen short-stay exemptions: nationals who are exempt from Schengen short-stay visas may visit Greenland visa-free for up to 90 days. Israel is on the Schengen visa-exempt list, so an Israeli ordinary passport holder can travel to Greenland for tourism without a visa. There is a key practical wrinkle: all commercial routes to Greenland connect through Denmark (Copenhagen) or Iceland (Keflavik), both of which are Schengen states. Israelis are currently visa-free for that transit, but once the EU's ETIAS travel authorization launches (expected Q4 2026), an ETIAS will be needed for the Schengen leg through Denmark or Iceland, even though ETIAS does not apply to Greenland itself. A Schengen visa, where held, is not automatically valid for Greenland; the visa sticker must explicitly endorse Greenland. Israeli travelers should carry a passport valid at least three months beyond the intended departure, issued within the last 10 years, plus proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds. Always reconfirm with the Danish Immigration Service (nyidanmark.dk) or a Danish mission before travel, as territorial entry rules and ETIAS timelines are changing through 2026.
