Israel to Egypt visa requirements

Israeli passport holders need a visa for general tourism in mainland Egypt (Cairo, Luxor, Giza). Israel is not eligible for Egypt's online e-Visa portal, so the practical options are a visa on arrival at major international airports (about USD 25, single entry, 30 days) or a tourist visa from the Egyptian consulate in Tel Aviv. One important exception: a free 14-day Sinai resort permit is granted on arrival at the Taba land border for visits limited to Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba only. Following the 1979 Israel-Egypt peace treaty, Israeli citizens can travel to Egypt, but a visa is required for the mainland. Unlike most nationalities, Israelis are not listed as eligible for Egypt's electronic e-Visa portal (visa2egypt.gov.eg) and must instead obtain a visa on arrival at international airports such as Cairo, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh (single entry, roughly USD 25, 30-day stay) or apply in advance at the Egyptian consulate in Tel Aviv. A separate, well-established arrangement allows Israelis crossing the Taba land border into Sinai to receive a free entry permit valid for 14 days, but only for the South Sinai coastal resorts of Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba; this permit does not allow travel to mainland Egypt or other parts of the country. Passports must be valid at least six months beyond arrival with blank pages, and travelers should carry proof of accommodation, onward travel and sufficient funds. Because Israel is excluded from the e-Visa channel and a visa (or restricted Sinai permit) is required for entry, the conservative and accurate verdict for a general Egypt tourist visit is visa-required.
