Israel to Canada visa requirements
Israeli ordinary-passport holders do NOT need a visitor visa for a short tourist trip to Canada. Since June 2023, nationals holding a valid Israeli national passport are visa-exempt and instead need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before boarding a flight to Canada. The eTA costs CAD 7, is usually approved within minutes, allows multiple entries for stays of up to 6 months each, and is valid for up to 5 years (or until the passport expires). Canada extended eTA eligibility to Israeli national passport holders on 6 June 2023, moving Israel from the visa-required category to the visa-exempt/eTA channel. For tourism, an Israeli citizen with an ordinary national passport applies online for an eTA at the official IRCC website, pays CAD 7, and in most cases receives approval within minutes (some applications take several days if additional review is required). The eTA is electronically linked to the passport, so a new passport requires a new eTA. It permits multiple entries with stays of up to six months per visit and remains valid for up to five years. The eTA is only required when arriving by air; it is not needed for land or sea entry. The final length of stay is always decided by the border services officer on arrival. Canada is not part of the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Israeli citizens who are also permanent residents of Canada or the US, or who hold a valid Canadian visitor visa, follow different rules. Travelers should apply only through the official canada.ca site to avoid third-party fee-charging sites.
