🇮🇩INDONESIA🇿🇦SOUTH AFRICAID-ZA Do Indonesia passport holders need a visa to visit South Africa?
Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a visa for South Africa. Apply online for an eVisa before travel, or use the new ETA fast-track (available to Indonesians since 12 Feb 2026 at OR Tambo, Cape Town and Lanseria airports). Visa-on-arrival is not available. South Africa is not a visa-free or visa-on-arrival destination for Indonesian ordinary passport holders. As of 2026, the South African Department of Home Affairs offers two online pathways for short tourist visits: the eVisa (the established online visitor visa, available for entry at multiple ports) and the newer Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), which became available to Indonesian ordinary passport holders on 12 February 2026 and is processed within about 24 hours. The ETA is currently usable only at OR Tambo (Johannesburg), Cape Town and Lanseria international airports, with expansion to more airports and land borders planned through 2026; travellers entering elsewhere must hold an eVisa or a consular visitor visa. Both allow tourist stays of up to 90 days. There is no visa-on-arrival — travellers who arrive without authorisation are refused entry. Apply only through official government portals (ehome.dha.gov.za and eta.dha.gov.za), as numerous third-party sites charge inflated service fees.
