Do Indonesia passport holders need a visa to visit GQ?
Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Equatorial Guinea. The standard route for a short tourist visit is the electronic visa (eVisa), introduced on 1 July 2023, applied for online before travel. Indonesia is not on Equatorial Guinea's visa-exemption list, and there is no visa-on-arrival for Indonesians. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory. Equatorial Guinea (GQ) requires Indonesian (ID) ordinary passport holders to obtain a visa before travel. Since 1 July 2023, Equatorial Guinea operates an electronic visa (eVisa) system, which is the practical channel for most short tourist visits and which requires entry via Malabo International Airport. Only a small number of nationalities are visa-exempt (Barbados, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, plus certain CEMAC members with specified documents), and only UAE citizens have visa-on-arrival; Indonesia is on none of these lists. A bilateral visa-exemption agreement signed with Indonesia in August 2019 covers only diplomatic and service passports and has not entered into force, so it does not benefit ordinary passport holders. The tourist eVisa is typically a single-entry permit allowing roughly 30 days, with a fee around USD 75 (plus any service charges) and processing that can range from a few days to several weeks depending on documentation. Applicants commonly need a passport valid 6+ months, a photo, proof of accommodation, return/onward ticket, proof of funds, sometimes a sponsor or invitation letter, and crucially a yellow fever vaccination certificate (administered at least 10 days before arrival). Travelers should verify current requirements via the official eVisa portal or the nearest Equatorial Guinean diplomatic mission, as policy and fees can change. Verdict: visa required, eVisa channel.
