Do Indonesia passport holders need a visa to visit Finland?

Indonesian ordinary passport holders NEED a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Finland for tourism. Indonesia is not visa-exempt and is not eligible for ETIAS. Finland is part of the Schengen Area, and Indonesia is on the list of nationalities that require a visa before travel. An Indonesian ordinary passport holder must apply in person for a Schengen Type C short-stay visa through the Finland Visa Application Centre (run by VFS Global) in Jakarta, Surabaya or Bali before departure. The visa allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Biometrics (fingerprints and a photo) are collected at submission. Mandatory travel medical insurance with at least EUR 30,000 coverage for the whole Schengen area is required. Standard processing is about 15 calendar days but can take longer in busy periods, so applying early (up to 6 months ahead) is advised. Note: Indonesia is NOT eligible for ETIAS (which launches in late 2026 for visa-exempt nationals only) — Indonesians continue to need a full Schengen visa. A positive recent change: since the EU's July 2025 visa-cascade decision for Indonesia, applicants who have lawfully used one Schengen visa within the previous three years can obtain multi-entry visas valid up to 5 years.
