Indonesia to Finland visa requirements

Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before visiting Finland for tourism. Indonesia is visa-required for Schengen, so ETIAS does not replace the visa. Finland is part of the Schengen Area, and Indonesia is listed under the EU visa-required nationalities for Schengen short stays. An Indonesian ordinary passport holder must obtain a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before travelling to Finland for tourism, family visits, business meetings, conferences, transit through Schengen, or other short non-work visits. The visa allows stays of up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period across the whole Schengen Area, not 90 days per country. Apply to Finland only if Finland is the sole destination, the main destination, or, for equal-length multi-country trips, the first Schengen country visited. EU guidance says applications are normally lodged no earlier than 6 months and at least 15 days before the trip; appointment shortages or extra checks can require more time, so applying early is safer. Applicants must provide a valid passport, application form, ICAO photo, travel medical insurance, purpose-of-stay documents, financial/accommodation evidence, and fingerprints unless an exemption applies. The current general Schengen fee is EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children aged 6-12, plus any visa application centre service fee and travel insurance costs. ETIAS is only for visa-exempt nationals and is expected to start operations in the last quarter of 2026, so it does not apply to Indonesian travellers who already need a Schengen visa. Under the EU's July 2025 Indonesia visa-cascade decision, Indonesian nationals residing in Indonesia may receive a five-year multiple-entry Schengen visa after obtaining and lawfully using one Schengen visa within the previous three years, if the passport remains sufficiently valid.
