Do Indonesia passport holders need a visa to visit CH?

Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen Type C short-stay visa to visit Switzerland for tourism. Apply at VFS Global in Indonesia before you travel. Switzerland is a member of the Schengen Area, and Indonesia is NOT on the Schengen visa-exempt list. An Indonesian ordinary passport holder must obtain a Schengen Type C (short-stay) visa before traveling for tourism. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Because Indonesia requires a visa, ETIAS (the visa-waiver travel authorisation launching in late 2026) does NOT apply to Indonesian nationals — they continue to use the traditional Schengen visa. Applications for a Switzerland-bound trip are submitted through VFS Global in Indonesia (Jakarta/Bali). The consular fee is EUR 90 (around IDR 1,740,000), plus a VFS service charge, and processing typically takes up to 15 working days. Since 23 July 2025, a new EU visa 'cascade' for Indonesia means eligible repeat travelers (who obtained and lawfully used a visa in the prior three years) can be issued multi-entry visas valid up to five years.
