Do Indonesia passport holders need a visa to visit BA?
Indonesian ordinary passport holders must obtain a visa before traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina for tourism. There is no visa-on-arrival or eVisa channel for Indonesian nationals. The only exemption: holders of a valid multiple-entry Schengen, EU, US, or UK visa or residence permit may enter without a Bosnian visa for up to 30 days. As of 31 May 2026, Indonesia is not on Bosnia and Herzegovina's visa-free list for ordinary passports. Indonesian tourists need a Type C short-stay (Schengen-style) visa, which permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a Schengen member and is outside ETIAS, so ETIAS rules do not apply here. Because there is no resident Bosnian embassy in Jakarta, Indonesian applicants typically apply through the nearest accredited Bosnian diplomatic mission (commonly the Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, or another regional mission) or submit documents per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH instructions. A notable shortcut: travelers already holding a valid multiple-entry Schengen, EU member state, US, or UK visa or residence permit can enter Bosnia visa-free for up to 30 days, removing the need for a separate Bosnian visa. Diplomatic and official/service passport holders from Indonesia are fully visa-exempt, but this does not extend to ordinary passports. Fees are modest (around EUR 35 single-entry, EUR 70 multiple-entry), but processing through a non-resident mission can take 2-4 weeks, so apply well in advance. Always confirm the current procedure with the accredited mission before booking travel.
