Do Indonesia passport holders need a visa to visit AT?
Yes, an Indonesian ordinary passport holder needs a Schengen visa before travelling to Austria for tourism. Indonesia is on the EU visa-required list, so you must apply at the Austrian Embassy / VFS Global in Indonesia before departure. ETIAS does not apply to you. Indonesia is on the EU's Schengen visa-required (Annex I) list, so an Indonesian ordinary passport holder must obtain a short-stay Schengen visa (Type C) before travelling to Austria for tourism. Apply through VFS Global centres in Jakarta, Bali or Surabaya, with Austria as your main destination (or first point of entry). The visa allows a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the whole 29-country Schengen area. The standard adult visa fee is EUR 80, rising to EUR 90 from 11 June 2026, plus a VFS service fee. Because Indonesians are visa-required, the upcoming ETIAS travel authorisation does NOT apply to you. A favourable EU 'cascade' regime adopted on 23 July 2025 means Indonesian residents who have lawfully used a Schengen visa in the past three years can now be granted multi-entry visas valid up to five years.
