Hungary to China visa requirements

Hungarian ordinary passport holders can visit mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days through 31 Dec 2026 for eligible short-stay purposes. As of 2026-06-29, Hungarian citizens holding valid ordinary passports are covered by China's unilateral visa-free policy. They may enter mainland China without a visa for business, tourism, visiting family or friends, exchange, official visits, or transit for no more than 30 days. The stay is calculated from 00:00 on the day after entry, and Hungary's current unilateral visa-free policy is valid through 31 December 2026. Travelers who do not meet the visa-free conditions, or who plan to work, study, conduct news reporting, reside long-term, or stay beyond 30 days, must obtain the correct Chinese visa before travel. Visa-free travelers do not need advance declaration to a Chinese embassy or consulate, but border inspection can examine the purpose of entry and may ask for supporting documents such as invitation letters, air tickets, and accommodation reservations. For regular visas from Hungary, the official channel starts on consular.mfa.gov.cn/VISA, followed by passport and material submission to the Chinese Embassy in Hungary after preliminary review. The Hungary Embassy fee notice lists HUF 19,000 for Hungarian and other Schengen-country passports during the phased fee reduction through 31 December 2026; the local official pages checked do not state a regular processing time.
