🇭🇰HONG KONG🇻🇳VIETNAMHK-VN Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit Vietnam?
Hong Kong ordinary passport holders are NOT visa-free for Vietnam. You must obtain a visa before travel — the simplest route is the official Vietnam e-visa (USD 25 single-entry), valid up to 90 days. Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport holders do not enjoy visa-free entry to Vietnam and are not on any of Vietnam's visa-exemption lists. Since 15 August 2023, however, Vietnam grants its electronic visa (e-visa) to citizens of all countries and territories, which includes HKSAR passport holders. You apply online via the official Vietnam Immigration Department portal (evisa.gov.vn) before traveling. The e-visa is issued for a stay of up to 90 days in single- or multiple-entry form, costs USD 25 (single) or USD 50 (multiple), and is normally processed in about 3-5 working days. Your passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond arrival with at least two blank pages. Apply only through the official government website to avoid commercial markup, and carry a printed copy of the e-visa for boarding and immigration. A traditional visa sticker via the Vietnamese Consulate-General in Hong Kong remains an alternative.
