Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit TZ?
HK SAR ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourist visits to Tanzania. You may enter visa-free and stay up to 90 days (3 months). As of 31 May 2026, holders of a Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport enjoy visa-free entry to Tanzania (including both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar) for tourism and short visits, for a stay of up to 90 days (3 months). This is confirmed by both the Tanzania Immigration Services Department, which lists "Hong Kong, China" among the countries/territories that do not require a visa, and the Hong Kong Immigration Department, which records 90 days of visa-free access for Tanzania. No eVisa or visa-on-arrival fee applies for genuine tourist stays within the 90-day limit. Travelers should still carry a passport valid for at least six months beyond arrival, proof of onward/return travel, and a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate if arriving from or transiting (over 12 hours) a Yellow Fever endemic country. Entry remains at the discretion of the immigration officer at the port of entry. Travelers planning to stay longer than 90 days, work, or do business should obtain the appropriate visa or permit in advance via the official eVisa portal.
