🇭🇰HONG KONG🇹🇭THAILANDHK-TH Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit Thailand?
No visa needed. HKSAR ordinary passport holders enter Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism, but must complete the free online Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before arrival. Holders of a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) ordinary passport can visit Thailand visa-free for tourism for up to 30 days per entry under a long-standing bilateral visa-exemption arrangement. A temporary extension to 60 days that ran from July 2024 was rolled back, and as of May 2026 the Hong Kong Immigration Department again lists the visa-free allowance as 30 days. The arrangement is genuinely free of charge — there is no visa fee. Travellers must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months with at least one blank page, and since 1 May 2026 every foreign national must submit the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before entering (recommended within 72 hours of arrival). The 30-day stay can be extended once by 30 days at a Thai Immigration Office for a fee of THB 1,900. Note that visa-exempt entries via land borders are capped at two per calendar year; air arrivals are not subject to this cap. If you need to stay longer than 60 days total or for non-tourism purposes, apply for the appropriate visa before travel.
