Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit TD?
Yes, a visa is required. Hong Kong SAR passport holders lost Chad's visa-free entry (the brief Dec 2024 exemption was withdrawn in late 2025), so you must obtain a visa before travel. The simplest route is Chad's official eVisa at evisa.td (single entry); an embassy/consular visa is the alternative, including for multiple entries. Chad launched its electronic visa system (evisa.td) on 11 December 2024 and has progressively moved all standard visa applications online (the platform became mandatory for non-diplomatic categories in May 2026). Hong Kong was briefly added to Chad's visa-exempt list in December 2024, but that exemption was withdrawn in late 2025. As of 31 May 2026, an ORDINARY HK SAR passport holder traveling to Chad for tourism must hold a visa. The practical channel is the official online eVisa (single entry, typically valid up to 90 days, ~USD 107, processed in around 10 days); a regular visa from a Chadian embassy/consulate remains available and is required for multiple entries. Note that all arrivals must complete police registration within 72 hours, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
