Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit SB?
A Hong Kong SAR (ordinary) passport holder needs a visa to visit the Solomon Islands for tourism. Hong Kong is NOT on the Solomon Islands visa-free or visa-on-arrival list (the China-Solomon Islands visa-waiver of December 2024 covers PRC ordinary passports only, not HKSAR/Macao SAR passports), and the Solomon Islands does not appear on Hong Kong Immigration's visa-free/VOA destination list. Apply in advance through the Solomon Islands Immigration Division online portal (recommended) or a Solomon Islands diplomatic mission. As of 30 May 2026, Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport holders require a Solomon Islands visitor (tourist) visa obtained before travel. The mutual visa-exemption agreement between the People's Republic of China and the Solomon Islands, which entered into force on 28 December 2024, grants 30-day visa-free entry only to holders of valid Chinese ORDINARY passports (and Solomon Islands ordinary passports) — China's bilateral visa agreements do not extend to HKSAR or Macao SAR passports. This is confirmed by the fact that the Solomon Islands does not appear on the Hong Kong Immigration Department's list of countries granting visa-free access or visa-on-arrival to HKSAR passport holders. The Solomon Islands Immigration Division operates an online visitor-visa application (an eVisa-style process) at USD 50, or a standard/embassy lodgement at USD 100. The visa is single entry, valid for a 30-day stay on arrival, extendable up to a total of 150 days. Travelers must hold a passport valid at least 6 months with blank pages, a return/onward ticket, and proof of sufficient funds. Because HK is excluded from every no-visa channel and sources are clear, the conservative and correct verdict is visa-required.
