Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit SA?
HK SAR ordinary passport holders need a visa for Saudi Arabia, but can obtain it easily online via the official Saudi eVisa (a 1-year, multiple-entry tourist visa allowing up to 90 days per stay) or as a visa-on-arrival at six designated entry points. As of May 2026, Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport holders are not visa-free for Saudi Arabia, but enjoy two convenient channels. Since January 2025, the HKSAR passport became eligible for both the Saudi tourist eVisa and visa-on-arrival, as confirmed by the Hong Kong Immigration Department. The recommended option is the official eVisa from visa.visitsaudi.com: a one-year, multiple-entry tourist visa permitting stays of up to 90 days per visit, issued typically within 1-2 working days. The total online fee is around SAR 535, which bundles the government visa fee, mandatory medical insurance, and platform charge. Alternatively, visa-on-arrival is available at six designated control points: a single-entry visa allows up to 30 days, and a multiple-entry visa up to 90 days (around SAR 480 including insurance). The passport must have at least 6 months validity. Saudi Arabia is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. The tourist visa covers leisure travel, family visits, events, and Umrah, but not Hajj or paid work.
