🇭🇰HONG KONG🇲🇾MALAYSIAHK-MY Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit Malaysia?
Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport holders can visit Malaysia visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism. No visa is required, but every traveler must complete the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online within 3 days before arrival. Holders of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) ordinary passport enjoy visa-free entry to Malaysia for tourism and short visits of up to 90 days per visit. This 90-day period (extended from the previous 1 month) has been in effect since 28 June 2023. While no visa is needed, Malaysia now requires all foreign visitors to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online, free of charge, within 3 days before arrival. The passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay. Important: when registering the MDAC, HKSAR passport holders are advised to select 'CHN' (China) as nationality so the correct eligibility is granted; HK and Macao passport holders are also now eligible for autogate entry at Malaysian airports, though using a manual immigration counter has been recommended in some guidance to ensure correct processing. The visa-free status covers tourism, social visits and short business meetings; work, study or long stays require an appropriate visa or pass.
