HK passport holders can enter Madagascar with a visa on arrival or a pre-approved eVisa for tourism. There is no visa-free entry, but no embassy visit is needed. Madagascar grants visa on arrival to all nationalities, including Hong Kong SAR (ordinary) passport holders, for tourism. You can obtain a tourist visa directly at international airports such as Ivato (Antananarivo), or apply online beforehand via the official eVisa portal (evisamada-mg.com). For short stays the visa is issued as a non-immigrant tourist visa valid for under 60 days, with options of 15, 30, 60 and 90 days. Note that as of 16 February 2026 the official 15-day eVisa fee was raised to roughly EUR 25-30 / USD 27-35. Visa-on-arrival counters generally charge the same or slightly lower amount, payable in Euro, US Dollar or Ariary. A passport valid at least 6 months, a return/onward ticket and proof of accommodation are required. Hong Kong's Immigration Department lists Madagascar among destinations offering visa-free access or visa-on-arrival to HKSAR passport holders, but in practice a fee-bearing entry visa (VOA or eVisa) applies. This is not a Schengen country, so the 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
