Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit GL?
Holders of an ordinary HKSAR passport do NOT need a visa for a short tourist visit to Greenland and may stay up to 90 days. Greenland is an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, but it is NOT part of the European Union and NOT part of the Schengen Area. As a result, the Schengen 90/180 rule and the upcoming ETIAS travel authorisation do NOT apply to Greenland, and a Schengen visa is not valid for entry. According to Visit Greenland (the official tourism authority) and the Hong Kong Immigration Department's visa-free access list, ordinary HKSAR passport holders may enter Greenland visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days. No visa, e-visa, ETA or visa-on-arrival is required. Travellers should note that most flights to Greenland route through Copenhagen (Denmark, a Schengen state) or Iceland, so a Schengen transit/entry may still be relevant for the connection even though Greenland itself sits outside Schengen. Carry a passport valid for the duration of stay, proof of onward/return travel, and evidence of sufficient funds and accommodation.
