Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit Spain (Schengen)?

No visa needed. Hong Kong ordinary passport holders can visit Spain visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period as a Schengen short stay. Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport holders enjoy visa-free access to Spain and the entire Schengen Area for short tourist or business stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. This is confirmed on the official visa-free access list published by the Hong Kong Immigration Department and by the Consulate General of Spain in Hong Kong. No tourist visa application is required before travel. Since April 2026 the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is fully operational, so travelers register their biometrics (facial image and fingerprints) at the border on first arrival instead of having passports stamped, but no advance authorization is required. The EU's ETIAS travel authorization (EUR 20, valid 3 years) is scheduled to launch in the last quarter of 2026 and will eventually become mandatory for visa-exempt travelers; as of 30 May 2026 it is NOT yet required, and Hong Kong travelers can still enter Spain with only a valid passport. Passports should be valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date and issued within the last 10 years.
