Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit BW?
Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Botswana. You can enter visa-free and are granted up to 90 days of stay within any 365-day period, with a free entry stamp issued on arrival. Botswana grants visa-free entry to holders of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) ordinary passport for tourism and short visits. On arrival you receive a free entry stamp permitting a stay of up to 90 days within a rolling 365-day period (immigration officers may grant fewer days at their discretion). Botswana's eVisa system (evisa.gov.bw) applies only to nationalities that require a visa and is NOT needed for Hong Kong travellers. To enter, your HKSAR passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival and have at least one blank page. You may be asked to show proof of onward/return travel, sufficient funds, and accommodation details. Botswana is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only if arriving from or transiting (over 12 hours) a country at risk of yellow fever transmission. This verdict is confirmed by the Hong Kong Immigration Department's visa-free access list and Botswana's published visa policy.
