Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit BA?

Hong Kong SAR passport holders can travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism or short visits. No visa, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is required. A Hong Kong (HKSAR) ordinary passport holder does NOT need a visa to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina for tourism or short business. Bosnia and Herzegovina has granted visa-free access to HKSAR passport holders since January 2009, currently allowing a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This is confirmed by the Hong Kong Immigration Department's official visa-free access list, the original 2009 HKSAR Government press release, and the Wikipedia visa policy article (last verified April 2026). Bosnia and Herzegovina is NOT a member of the EU or the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and the ETIAS travel authorisation do not apply here; however, days spent in Bosnia are counted entirely separately from any Schengen-area stays. Note that Bosnia is an EU candidate country and aligns parts of its policy with the EU, but as of 30 May 2026 the visa-free regime for HKSAR holders remains unchanged. Travellers must hold a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended date of departure and may be asked at the border to show proof of accommodation, onward/return tickets, sufficient funds, and travel insurance. The 90-day limit applies to short stays only; working, studying, or residing requires the appropriate permit obtained in advance.
