Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit AL?

No visa required. HKSAR ordinary passport holders can enter Albania visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism or visiting friends and relatives. Holders of a Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport do not need a visa to visit Albania for tourism or short visits. They may enter and stay visa-free for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, counted from the date of first entry. This is a generous arrangement that was extended from the previous 14-day limit to 90 days, confirmed by the Hong Kong Immigration Department. Albania is not a member of the Schengen Area or the European Union (it is an EU candidate country), so the EU Schengen 90/180 rule and the upcoming ETIAS authorisation do NOT apply to Albania at present — Albania operates its own national 90/180 visa-free regime. The passport should be valid for at least three months beyond the intended stay, and the visa-free arrangement covers tourism and family visits only, not employment or study. Travelers staying beyond 90 days, or visiting for work, business beyond short meetings, or long-term study, must obtain the appropriate residence permit or visa. As always, carry proof of onward travel, accommodation and sufficient funds, as Albanian border officers may request these on arrival.
