United Kingdom to Vietnam visa requirements

British citizen passport holders can visit Vietnam visa-free for up to 45 days for tourism or business. For stays over 45 days, use Vietnam's official eVisa, valid up to 90 days with single or multiple entry. Travellers on a full British citizen passport can enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days. GOV.UK describes the waiver as available for tourism or business, and Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists the United Kingdom under the unilateral 45-day visa exemption policy effective from 15 March 2025 until 14 March 2028, subject to meeting Vietnamese entry conditions. British National (Overseas) passport holders are specifically not covered by the exemption and need an appropriate visa. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after arrival, have at least 2 blank pages, be undamaged, and you must enter and leave using the same passport. Border officers stamp the permitted exit date on arrival, so check that date before leaving passport control. If you want to stay longer than 45 days, the official Vietnam eVisa route allows up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, with a USD 25 single-entry or USD 50 multiple-entry fee and 3-working-day processing after payment. eVisa holders must use designated eVisa entry/exit ports; Vietnam Government News reported that Resolution 389/NQ-CP, dated 2 December 2025, expanded these to 83 ports. Work, study, illegal employment, or stays beyond the visa-free/eVisa limits require the correct visa or work permit. From 15 April 2026, foreign nationals entering via Tan Son Nhat Airport (SGN) are encouraged, but not currently required, to complete Vietnam's digital arrival card before arrival.
