🇬🇧UNITED KINGDOM🇫🇮FINLANDGB-FI Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit Finland?
UK ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Finland for tourism. As a British citizen you can enter Finland and the wider Schengen area visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Finland is part of the Schengen Area, and United Kingdom ordinary passport holders are Schengen visa-exempt. You may travel for tourism, business or family visits for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period without a visa. Your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years and remain valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area. Since 12 October 2025 the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) has been rolling out and becomes fully operational on 10 April 2026; on entry you will register biometric data (facial image and fingerprints) instead of having your passport stamped — there is no fee. The EU's ETIAS travel authorisation (a €20, 3-year online permit, not a visa) is expected to launch in Q4 2026 with a transitional grace period afterwards, so it is NOT yet required as of 30 May 2026. Until ETIAS is live, visa-free entry under the 90/180 rule is all you need. At the border you may be asked for proof of onward/return travel, accommodation and sufficient funds.
