Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit CO?
UK ordinary passport holders do not need a visa to visit Colombia for tourism. You are granted a visa-exempt Tourism Permit (PT) of up to 90 days on arrival, extendable to a maximum of 180 days per calendar year. The permit itself is free; you only need a valid passport, an onward/return ticket, and (recommended) the online Check-Mig form completed before travel. British citizens holding an ordinary passport enjoy visa-free entry to Colombia for tourism and short business visits. Confirmed by GOV.UK Foreign Travel Advice (verified 2026-05-30), Colombian immigration officers grant a Tourism Permit (Permiso de Turismo, "PT", formerly the PIP stamp) of up to 90 days at the discretion of the officer on arrival. There is no fee for this entry permit for visa-exempt nationals such as the UK. Colombia is NOT in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply; instead Colombia applies its own rule that a visitor cannot remain more than 180 days in any 12-month (calendar-year) period. The 90-day permit can be extended once, by up to 120 days (capped at the 180-day annual total), at a Migración Colombia office; under Resolution 0599 of 2026 the extension (prórroga) fee is approximately 150,000 COP. To enter you must show a passport valid on entry (6 months' validity beyond departure is recommended) and an onward or return ticket within the 90-day period. Completing the free Check-Mig form online between 72 hours and 1 hour before travel is strongly recommended (effectively expected by airlines) to speed up processing. Travelers must ensure their passport is physically stamped on entry, especially at land, sea or river borders, to avoid fines on exit.
