Do United Kingdom passport holders need a visa to visit AZ?
UK ordinary passport holders need an e-visa (ASAN Visa) to visit Azerbaijan for tourism. There is no visa-free or visa-on-arrival channel for British citizens; the e-visa is obtained entirely online before travel. British citizens holding an ordinary passport require a visa to enter Azerbaijan for tourism, and the simplest route is the official ASAN Visa (e-visa) applied for online at evisa.gov.az. The standard government fee is USD 25 plus a USD 5 service fee (about USD 30 total), with processing of up to 3 working days; an urgent option costs USD 60 plus the USD 5 service fee and is issued within 3 hours. The e-visa is single entry and allows a stay of up to 30 days, and you must enter Azerbaijan within the 90-day validity window of the visa. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival and contain at least two blank pages. After approval you receive the e-visa by email and must print it to present alongside your passport on arrival. There is no visa-on-arrival or visa-free entry for UK nationals, so the e-visa must be secured before you travel. Visitors staying longer than 15 days must register with the State Migration Service (online or in person). Azerbaijan is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. As of May 2026 these arrangements remain current with no announced changes to UK eligibility or fees.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
