France to Timor-Leste visa requirements

French ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Timor-Leste. As citizens of a Schengen/EU member state, they may enter visa-free for tourism and stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Timor-Leste grants visa-free entry to citizens of all Schengen Area and EU member states, including France, for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period for any purpose, including tourism. This is a unilateral exemption granted by Timor-Leste; no visa, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is required (and indeed visa-on-arrival is not even available to French citizens because they are already exempt). Travelers simply present a valid passport at Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Dili or at the Dili Sea Port and complete an arrival card. Standard entry conditions still apply: a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry with blank pages, proof of onward or return travel, confirmed accommodation, and sufficient funds (immigration guidance references roughly USD 150 per day). The 90-day allowance can be relevant for longer trips, and for stays beyond 90 days a residence permit or appropriate long-stay authorization must be arranged. Note that Timor-Leste's 90/180 rule is its own immigration policy and is unrelated to the European Schengen 90/180 rule; the two simply happen to share the same numbers. As of May 2026 there are no recent changes affecting French tourists, and there is no ETA or eVisa scheme applicable to them.
