Do France passport holders need a visa to visit MZ?

French passport holders do not need a traditional visa for a short tourist trip to Mozambique, but since April 2025 they MUST obtain a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online before departure. France is one of 29 visa-exempt countries that are now required to register and get an approved ETA prior to boarding. France is on Mozambique's list of 29 unilaterally visa-exempt nationalities for short tourist stays. However, visa-free no longer means "no online step." The permitted stay is up to 30 days, extendable once for another 30 days in-country. The associated fee of 650 MZN (about USD 10 / EUR 9) is collected on arrival. A traditional eVisa and visa-on-arrival also remain available as fallbacks, but for a France passport the ETA is the correct, lowest-cost channel for tourism. A yellow-fever vaccination certificate is required only if arriving from or transiting an endemic country. Sources broadly agree France is visa-exempt-with-ETA; one secondary aggregator listed France as needing a full eVisa, but the official portal, France-Visas, and multiple specialist trackers confirm the ETA channel, so the ETA verdict is used.
