Do France passport holders need a visa to visit KZ?
French ordinary passport holders can travel to Kazakhstan visa-free for tourism and stay up to 30 days per entry. No visa, eVisa, or pre-approval is required before departure. As of May 2026, France is among the countries covered by Kazakhstan's unilateral visa-free regime. Holders of an ordinary French passport may enter Kazakhstan without a visa and stay up to 30 calendar days per entry for tourism, business, or private visits. The cumulative stay must not exceed 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. Under reforms that took effect in 2025, temporary registration with the migration police is no longer required for stays of up to 30 days; for longer stays the host or hotel submits an arrival notification within 3 business days via the eQonaq.kz / vmp.gov.kz portal (hotels do this automatically). Travelers should hold a passport valid for the duration of stay (6 months recommended), proof of onward travel, and may be asked for proof of sufficient funds. Kazakhstan is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
