France to Canada visa requirements

eTA required (CAD 7) for French citizens flying to or transiting through Canada. Stays are normally up to 6 months per visit; eTA is valid up to 5 years. French ordinary passport holders are visa-exempt for tourism or business stays under 6 months, but must hold a valid eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) before boarding a flight to Canada or transiting through a Canadian airport. The eTA costs CAD 7, is linked to the passport used to apply, is valid up to 5 years or until passport expiry, and supports multiple short stays normally up to 6 months each. A border services officer makes the final entry and stay-length decision. French travellers do not normally need an eTA when arriving by land or sea, except when boarding a boat from Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon to Canada (excluding cruise ships).
