🇫🇮FINLAND🇿🇦SOUTH AFRICAFI-ZA Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit South Africa?
Finnish citizens do not need a visa for tourist visits to South Africa of up to 90 days. Finland is on South Africa's visa-exemption list as an EU member state (only Cyprus and Poland among EU countries are limited to 30 days). Holders of an ordinary Finnish passport may enter South Africa for tourism or short business visits for up to 90 days without applying for a visa. No advance application, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is needed — the immigration officer issues a free visitor's entry stamp at the port of entry. South Africa launched an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system in 2025, but as of May 2026 it applies only to selected nationalities (e.g. China, India, Indonesia, Mexico) and does NOT apply to Finland, which remains fully visa-exempt. Travellers must hold a passport valid for at least 30 days beyond the intended departure date with at least two blank pages, and should carry proof of return/onward travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds. The visa-free stay cannot be used for work or study.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
