🇵🇹PORTUGAL (SCHENGEN)FI-PT

Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit Portugal (Schengen)?

No visa. Finland is an EU member and Portugal is in the EU/Schengen area, so Finnish citizens travel visa-free with full freedom-of-movement rights — no 90/180 cap and no ETIAS. Finland and Portugal are both EU member states and part of the Schengen Area. As an EU citizen, a Finnish ordinary passport holder enjoys freedom of movement: you can enter Portugal for tourism, business or any short stay with no visa and no entry permit. You travel on a valid Finnish passport OR a valid Finnish national ID card (with travel entitlement); no passport stamp applies at internal Schengen borders. The Schengen 90/180-day rule does NOT apply to EU citizens — that limit is only for non-EU visa-exempt travellers. Likewise, ETIAS (expected late 2026) and the Entry/Exit System do NOT apply to EU/Schengen nationals; they are exempt. For stays beyond 90 days you simply register your residence with the local Portuguese authority if you intend to live, work or study there, but no advance permission is needed to arrive. Carry a valid travel document for identity checks, as Portugal (like other states) may occasionally reintroduce temporary border controls.
