Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit LK?
Finnish ordinary passport holders need a Sri Lanka ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) for tourism, but as of 25 May 2026 the tourist ETA is FREE for Finland. Apply online before departure via the official portal eta.gov.lk; it grants a 30-day stay with double entry. Finland is on Sri Lanka's list of 40 nationalities that, from 25 May 2026, receive a free tourist Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). The ETA itself remains mandatory and must be obtained online before travel through the official Department of Immigration & Emigration portal at eta.gov.lk. The free tourist ETA allows a stay of up to 30 days with double entry from the date of first arrival. Although the fee is waived, all other conditions are unchanged: applicants must hold a passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival and have proof of onward/return travel and sufficient funds. Travelers wishing to stay beyond 30 days can extend at a Department of Immigration office, with the standard extension fees applying. Visitors should apply only on the official eta.gov.lk site, as third-party agent sites add service charges. Approval is usually issued within 24-72 hours, though the system often returns it within minutes.
