🇫🇮FINLAND🇫🇷FRANCE (SCHENGEN)FI-FR Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit France (Schengen)?
No visa needed. As an EU citizen, a Finnish passport holder enjoys full freedom of movement and can enter France for tourism with just a valid passport or national ID card. Finland and France are both EU member states inside the Schengen area, so a Finnish ordinary passport holder travels to France under EU freedom of movement. No visa, no ETIAS, and no entry fee apply. You may enter with either a valid Finnish passport or a valid national identity card (with travel entitlement); the document only needs to be valid on the day of travel. There is no fixed stay limit and no 90/180-day Schengen cap, because that cap applies only to non-EU visa-exempt visitors, not to EU citizens. Internal Schengen borders normally have no systematic checks, though carriers (airlines, ferries) and police may ask to see your ID document, so always carry it. ETIAS, expected to launch in the last quarter of 2026, applies only to non-EU visa-exempt nationals (e.g. US, UK, Japan) and never to EU citizens such as the Finnish.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
