Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit Germany (Schengen)?

No visa needed. As an EU citizen, a Finnish ordinary passport holder enjoys full freedom of movement and can travel to Germany with just a valid passport or national ID card, with no stay limit. Finland and Germany are both members of the European Union and the Schengen Area. Under the EU principle of free movement of persons, Finnish citizens may enter, travel through, stay, and even live and work in Germany without any visa. A valid Finnish passport or national identity card is sufficient. Because internal Schengen borders normally have no systematic checks, you usually pass without showing documents, though Germany may carry a valid ID at all times and present it during temporary reintroduced border controls. The Schengen 90/180-day short-stay rule and the upcoming ETIAS authorisation apply only to non-EU visa-exempt travelers; they do NOT apply to EU citizens such as Finns. Stays beyond three months are permitted but may require a simple residence registration (not a visa).
