Do Finland passport holders need a visa to visit CY?
No. Finnish citizens do not need a visa to visit Cyprus. As an EU citizen exercising freedom of movement, you can enter Cyprus with a valid Finnish passport or national ID card and stay with no fixed time limit for tourism. Both Finland and Cyprus are European Union member states, so a Finnish ordinary passport holder enjoys full EU freedom of movement and needs no visa to enter Cyprus for tourism or any short visit. You may enter by simply presenting a valid Finnish passport or a valid Finnish national identity card. Cyprus is an EU member but is NOT yet part of the Schengen Area as of mid-2026, so the Schengen 90/180-day short-stay rule does not apply to your trip, and time spent in Cyprus is not counted against any Schengen allowance. ETIAS, the EU travel authorisation system launching in late 2026, applies only to visa-exempt NON-EU nationals; as an EU citizen, Finns are completely exempt from ETIAS for Cyprus and all EU/Schengen destinations. There is no entry fee, no application, and no minimum passport validity beyond being valid on the day of travel (an ID card is equally acceptable). For stays beyond three months, EU rules require you to register your residence with the local authorities and, if seeking employment, register with the Public Employment Service; tourists on short visits have no such obligation. Note: if you travel on a Finnish national ID card, ensure it meets the new EU-standard ID card format (old cards must be replaced by 3 August 2026). The EU's new biometric Entry/Exit System (EES), live from April 2026, does not apply to EU citizens and Cyprus is in any case outside it.
