Spain to Montenegro visa requirements

Spanish (EU) ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Montenegro. You may stay visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism or short visits. You can enter with a valid passport or a national ID card. As an EU member state, Spain enjoys visa-free access to Montenegro. Spanish citizens holding an ordinary passport may enter and stay for up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism, family visits, business or transit, without applying for any visa, eVisa or travel authorization in advance. Entry is also permitted on a valid Spanish national ID card (DNI), which Montenegro accepts from EU nationals. Montenegro is NOT part of the Schengen Area, so time spent in Montenegro is counted separately and does NOT consume your Schengen 90/180 allowance, and Montenegro does not (yet) participate in the EU ETIAS scheme. Travelers should carry a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended stay (an EU ID card is also accepted, but a passport is the safest document). A key practical obligation is registration: all foreign nationals must register their place of stay with the local police within 24 hours of arrival. If you stay in a hotel, hostel or licensed accommodation, the property does this automatically; if you stay in private/unregistered accommodation you must register yourself at the nearest police directorate. Note that Montenegro is an EU candidate country progressively aligning its visa policy with the EU; the visa-free regime for EU citizens themselves is stable and not expected to change, though policies for third-country nationals may tighten as accession advances.
