Egypt to United States visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a B-1/B-2 visitor visa before traveling to the United States for tourism or short business. Egypt is not in the Visa Waiver Program, so ESTA is not available. Egypt is not a participant in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, so Egyptian ordinary passport holders cannot use ESTA and must obtain a nonimmigrant B-2 (tourism), B-1 (business), or combined B-1/B-2 visitor visa before travel. The official process starts with the DS-160 on CEAC, followed by paying the non-refundable US$185 MRV application fee, scheduling a visa interview through the official appointment system used by the U.S. Embassy in Egypt, and attending the consular interview unless a limited interview-waiver rule applies. For Egyptian nationals, the Department of State reciprocity schedule lists B-1, B-2, and B-1/B-2 visas with no issuance reciprocity fee, multiple entries, and a 60-month validity period; this visa validity is not the length of each U.S. stay. A visa lets the traveller request admission at a U.S. port of entry, but CBP makes the final admission decision and sets the authorized stay, commonly up to six months for visitors. General State Department visitor-visa rules require passports to be valid six months beyond the stay unless exempt; CBP's December 2025 six-month-validity update lists Egypt as exempt, so an Egyptian passport need only be valid for the intended U.S. stay, though extra validity is still prudent for airline and itinerary changes.
