Egypt to Somalia visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need an eVisa (eTAS) to enter Somalia. It must be obtained online before departure. A Egyptian (EG) ordinary passport holder traveling to Somalia for tourism or a short visit requires an electronic visa (eVisa), branded as the Electronic Travel Authorization System (eTAS). Effective 1 September 2025, the Federal Government of Somalia made the eTAS mandatory for all foreign visitors, who must apply online before departure. This replaced the former visa-on-arrival channel that had historically included Egypt among eligible nationalities; relying on visa-on-arrival is no longer advisable for federal Somalia. The eVisa is typically issued for a single entry with a stay of up to 30 days, and the authorization is valid 90 days from the date of issue. The federal eVisa fee is approximately USD 64, and a sponsor/invitation letter (Warqad Dammaanad) from a licensed Somali tour operator or registered host is generally required. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months. Important caveat: the breakaway regions of Somaliland (entry via Hargeisa) and Puntland do not recognize the federal eTAS and operate their own separate visa arrangements. Travelers should also note that Somalia carries severe security-related travel warnings from many governments.
