Egypt to Rwanda visa requirements
Egyptian ordinary passport holders can enter Rwanda visa-free for tourism. As an African Union member state, Egypt's citizens receive a free 30-day entry permit issued automatically on arrival — no prior application, no fee. Since November 2023 Rwanda also extended free entry to all Africans, reinforcing this no-cost channel. Rwanda grants Egyptian (African Union) nationals a free entry visa on arrival valid for 30 days, with fees fully waived. Although the mechanism is technically a "visa on arrival," there is no advance application, no charge, and the permit is granted as a matter of policy to AU, Commonwealth and Francophonie members, making the practical experience visa-free. This is layered on top of Rwanda's broader open-door stance: since 1 January 2018 all nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival, and in November 2023 President Kagame announced visa-free entry for all Africans. For an Egyptian tourist, the route is straightforward: arrive at Kigali International Airport (or a land border) with a passport valid at least six months, proof of onward/return travel and accommodation details, and you are admitted free of charge for up to 30 days. Yellow fever vaccination is not required for travelers arriving directly from Egypt (a non-endemic country), though it is required if arriving from or transiting an endemic country. Travelers wanting longer or multiple-entry stays, or who prefer a printed authorization, can apply for an eVisa online via the Irembo/migration.gov.rw portal in advance, but this is optional for Egyptians and the standard tourist channel remains free.
